Re: Battery for QRO operations

I use that brand (50 Ah version), two of them in parallel, in my shack. I use a different brand (same chemistry), two 20 Ah in parallel in a Harbor Freight box for portable operation. That portable box works great for me for picnic-table style POTA operations. With my IC-7300 at QRO levels and my st...

Re: 9v or 12v for sw-3b

I've run my SW-3B on LiFePO4 voltage (13+) just fine.

So tempting, but just how many QRP rigs does one person need......? :D
Is that a trick question?

Re: Trapping the EFHW?

So, I may be about to display my ignorance, but I think if you want to insert a trap to work on 30m, you'll also need one for 20m. The reason is that a 66' antenna with a 30m trap will look like a 30m antenna to a 20m signal and it won't be happy. In other words, the 30m trap will look like a half-w...

Re: Operating from a beach

Hey everyone, I'll be in South Carolina near Hilton Head for the first weekend in August, and there's so many parks to activate! Are there any special considerations for operating on an east coast beach? Optimal times of day or antenna deployments to reach Europe? Is vertical my best bet? I should ...

Same boat ... I'm 2/3 through building a QDX, but went ahead and ordered a QMX anyway.
So much to do ... so little time.

Re: CW Morse - N0SA Paddle - For Sale

Brian -- looks like it's sold. However, there's another guy also getting rid of his. I'll see if I can find his contact info and post it here.

Brian -- I'll have to check. It's on loan to someone who wanted to try it for a while before buying it. I'll check today.

Re: Why does QRPGuys EFHW use less than a half wave?

Rick N8TGQ is right. There are lots of boards printed with "QRPguys," including those sold on amazon, that are not made by QRPguys. It's really shameful. Also, that style of board (with a copper ground plate incorporated into the winder) seems to have some quirky performance. There was a t...

Re: Xiegu G106 vs. FX-4L

I'd be careful about the G-106. While I agree about not relying on the reviews of certain YouTube "personalities," this month's evaluation of the G-106 in QST was pretty bad. QST always tries to point out some positive features and to avoid being overly negative, but the G-106 did not fare...
