Re: TR-45L
Hi Max, Totally agree with you on all your points, this rig is most definitely a keeper! In answer to your question about external battery check, I've only run mine off a small (clean) switch mode supply and the battery check doesn't measure that voltage. So suspect the answer is no; maybe one to fe...

Re: TR-45L
Hi Max, I can sum up in one word, awesome! I've had my radio for 3 weeks (first in the UK) and it has been one of the most fun radios I've owned. There is something remarkably tactile and endearing about it, to the point that it's always the first radio I go to in my shack. I ordered without battery...

Re: Paddle Config
Sometimes I marvel at my own stupidty, in not being able to recognise the glaring and obvious solution! I happened to dig out an old Hi-mound "Manipulator" from the back of a draw and notice that it was not keying the right way for me. The solution, simple, reverse the wiring on the pins a...

Paddle Config
One for the CW ops amongst us.... When I moved over from straight key to paddle, I really struggled with the paddle configuration, in that I struggled with the traditional right paddle dahs and left paddle dits. After some time I tried the reverse and found that using the key in left hand mode with ...

TR-45
Just taken receipt of one of the first batch of Penntek TR-45s, probably the first in the UK. All I can say is wow! I thought the Tr-35 is amazing, but the TR-45 surpasses it. Will play later, but sensitivity and selectivity are outstanding and the transmitted signal is very clean. I just love the r...

Re: AX1 Antenna thoughts?
I have one and have been really impressed by the performance, it's clearly a quality design and build.
Price is a little on the high side (especially in the UK), but a worthy investment.

External speaker for TR-35?
Looking for suggestions for a small, but reasonable quality portable wired speaker to use with the TR-35. Any recommendations?

Re: QRP Transceiver Comparison
Morning Jay, I have the TR-35, QCX-mini (20m) and QCX (30m). All were purchased built as, due to professional commitments, I don't have the time to build these days. Firstly, they are all great radios and work very well. The QCXs are perhaps more robust for field work and operate via an easy to use ...

Re: POTA on 30M?
POTA is not a contest and therefore I would have no issue using the band as either an activator or hunter.

Re: LiPo Batteries - XT and RC types
Thanks Skip, I have a couple of LiOn packs and a spare for my KX2. These are all good as they have a BMS within. However I have more radios than battery packs and am looking to complete my set of "go-kits" each with their own battery. That said, I like what you have built, food for thought...
