Re: POTA Uploader
It is quicker and easier to upload than it is to email a file to the area coordinator.

POTA Uploader
For you POTA folks, the development team released the self-upload tool for general use yesterday. I had a log file ready to go, so I gave it a try. It worked great for me!

Re: TR-35 group/forum
Brian, could you provide the dimensions of your EFHW that you use with the TR-35? Thanks. Max - WG4Z Hi Max, Sorry for the delay, I was traveling for field day. My EFHW for the TR-35 is cut for 40m, with links for 30m & 17m. I started with the 17m wire only, and cut it to about 27 ft. Then I pu...

Low- or No-RFI Portable Computers
I am posting on behalf of Jim / AC3B... Hi, I am on a hunt for a commercially available ready to use laptop-ish computer that will be essentially only used for my radio related hobbies… Here are my goals: ——————————- Windows 11 (home) capable RFI: very little or none Under $1,000 for all computer pa...

Re: QRP accessories advice needed
Hi Bob, I agree on the CW Morse paddles. I started with their Pocket Paddles, and still use them often. Great customer service, too. Bioenno BLF-1203 has served me well. AB is high, wide, and thin. W is closer to a cube. With my QRP rigs running 5 watts CW, 3Ah should give me 8-ish hours of operatio...

Re: Why so few "random" wire antennas ?
Brian, I'm 100% onboard with EFHW as a solution, because in most essential ways they're he same as a dipole, and often a lot more convenient to deploy. Do you have any comparisons with random wires? I'm guessing more noise & less gain with the random wire, but have no data on this. I will say, ...

Re: Why so few "random" wire antennas ?
Hi Rob, I guess this falls under the category of "no such thing as a perfect antenna". I have been playing with 49:1 EFHW and 9:1 "random wire" antennas for POTA activations over much of the past year. I have no doubt that I am working with a compromised station, because: 1. At m...

Re: VY2SW
I was very happy to get VY2SW in the log with a Park-to-Park POTA contact from NW Pennsylvania park K-8725 (PA State Gameland 024) to Quebec park VE-0967. QRP on both ends.

Re: Arborist Throw Lines
For antenna deployment, snagging the biggest or highest branch is not necessary. Even a slender or dead branch often has enough strength to support a wire antenna. And, while height may be might, heavy canopy or undergrowth can make it very difficult to deploy the antenna. So I look for clear space ...
