LiPo Batteries - XT and RC types
All, Quick question. Has anyone had success powering their QRP rigs from RC (radio control) LiPo batteries? These apppear to be compact, high energy density and available within the voltage ranges we use. Reason I ask is that the range of LiPo batteries available in the UK seems to be somewhat less ...

Re: What QRP Rigs do you have, and how do you use them?
Good topic, before I start, I'm a self confessed QRP addict..... - KX2 for mobile, camping and dry portable ops - G90 for planned mobile ops - TX500 for SOTA and wet portable ops - MTR3b for SOTA - SW-3B kept in the car for random ops - TR-35 home work-desk companion ops - Tr(u)SDX for novelty ops -...

Re: TR-35 group/forum
I have to say the AME Porta Paddle does look rather nice and would appear to be a good shape to hold in the hand whilst keying. Any comments from Porta Paddle users on this? I'm trying to find a key with similar functionality to my Palm key, which I seem to move from radio to radio! Thanks Richard M...

Re: Packable POTA Field Kits
Brian,
Many thanks for sharing. Some significant similarities with my own kit (less hat and chair)!

Re: TR-35 group/forum
Thanks Brian, Interesting commentary on the keys. Like many of us multi-radio operators, I too try to keep dedicated kits and have multiple "sets" for my KX2 (general portable use including POTA), KX1 (gentle occasional use), MX-14s (very gentle occasional use), TX500 (wet POTA), MTR3b (SO...

Re: Packable POTA Field Kits
Interesting report Brian, I manage to get my KX2 and all the bits I need in the ES60 case, but I recognise everyone's needs are different.
I'd be interested in your TR-35 setup as a new TR-35 owner.

Re: TR-35 group/forum
Have just taken delivery of my new TR-35 and wow, what a radio. This one is definitely a keeper! Quick question, did anyone establish whether there was a .io email forum? Also interested to know what keys people are using with the TR-35? My palm paddle goes very well, but what others are in use out ...

Re: Which radio to take?
One week on from my return and an opportunity to think about use and reconcile against my other radios. Long and short, the KX2 operated flawlessly and did everything I asked of it. The one thing I need to think about is how to mount the radio in my small 4x4 as it would have been great to use mobil...

Re: Which radio to take?
Hi all, In the end I went with the KX2, for power using the battery pack (LiOn) normally used with my TX500, the internal battery as my back up! A short session last night from the second campsite near Inverness (and adjacent to the sea) saw a 20m SSB contact into the Czech Republic on 5w (turned do...

Which radio to take?
Hi all, Just catching up ahead of my road trip around the coast of Scotland and I face a dilemma, which radio(s) do I take? I’ll be away for 10 days and off grid with only very limited vehicle power for operation and charging whilst mobile. Have dismissed my KX2 as I’ll likely deplete the battery wi...
