Recorder

Hi all, I’m getting closer to being able to do a CW activation (been practicing with lots of CW chasing!) and I’d like to get a recorder to record my activations to verify the call signs I receive and continue to practice and self critique. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good one to pair with my KX2? Either I’ll use a headphone splitter to hear it and record or if the recorder has a headphone out that’s even better. The less pieces the better!

I used to use a little Sony digital recorder. You could put it in line with your earphones and record both sides of the QSO. Its small, easy on batteries and lots of record time. Mine had a wierd file system that I never used, but it could be handy. Mine was an older model and didnt have USB out for computer. The new ones do.

Using a Olympus VN-541PC for several years now, I'm
pleased with its performance. It turns on and begins recording
with one simple button, the usb port is handy for moving
recordings onto the computer. Has separate jacks for earphones
or a external mic. Its builtin speaker has something to be
desired in audio quality so most of my recorded signals
are archived on a usb drive for later enjoyment.
The internal file system looks different, when hooked up
to my laptop. Its not overly complicated to rummage through
the recorders audio files for archiving onto the laptop.
Its a lot of fun ...

Curious what others are using during sota/pota activations.

I have a Zoom H1n which is pretty compact and good quality.
