I agree that the 7300 is probably the best all around radio for beginners or thrifty (cheap) hams like myself. It seems to do everything at least reasonably well. Once OPs get past the "I don't want to learn Morse Code." phase it is a lot of fun. I have been working 99% CW for decades now. The more you use it the better it becomes. Crossing the ocean with 100 milliwatts is a blast. Welcome to HF.
