Re: Cheap 32’ carbon fiber mast

Also, carbon fiber masts are conductive, so they're a "no go" if one wants to use them for a vertical antenna, better looking for fiberglass poles, those will do double duty to both act as center support for a dipole/doublet or to put up a vertical antenna just by hanging the wire at the t...

Re: RG316 recommendation

Late on this one, I suggest looking at "Messi & Paoloni" products, and not just coax cables, but connectors too; I've used their products several times and never had to complain

my 2 cents

sBitx - any good ?

Just noticed that the same folk(s) behind the uBitx made a new model, this one is called sBitx https://www.hfsignals.com/index.php/sbitx-v3/ and seems to offer quite a buch of features, but then it's an SDR and I wonder if it may be plagued by the same issues of other SDR based rigs, including the f...

A drive-on antenna base and a relatively short (5...9ft) fiberglass telescoping mast to keep the whip above the car may fit well

Re: Kite lifted antennas

If the UnUn is DC shorted, like this one http://www.jumaradio.com/The-challenging-Unun-Transformer/ and if the ground goes to a decent ground stake, there shouldn't be need for a bleeder since the antenna would effectively be connected to ground at DC; alternatively one may try a galvanic transforme...

Re: Best beginner CW transceiver kit to start with

4StateQRP is a great source alright. I've built a few of their kits with good results. Check out the transceiver kits at "qrpme.com" they also have ALOT of other useful and quirky fun kits to learn building with. Be prepared to spend some time at the site just looking around. 72 W5GUS Dal...

Re: Counterpoise with TX500

if using an EFHW then you won't need a counterpoise (ok, a short one may improve radiation but it isn't mandatory), on the other hand, if using an EFRW (a so called "random") then you will need a cointerpoise to both improve radiation and matching through the necessary (in this case) ATU I...
