Re: KH1 full procedure to turn off internal tuner?
Hi James, The ATM Param menu item is different than the ATU Mode item. The Para setting allows you to manually change the ATU settings to peak it up. I wouldn't worry about using it as the ATU does a pretty good job of tuning by itself. To bypass the tuner you need to go to ATU MODE which is the nex...

Re: KH1 full procedure to turn off internal tuner?
Go into the menu by pressing and holding the Menu button for at least 1/2 second. Use the AF/Mon knob to scroll through the menu items until you come to ATU MODE. Use the VFO knob to change the setting from AUTO to BYPASS. Tap the Menu button to exit the menu. Page 29 in the manual. Switch Tap and H...

Re: TR-35 issues / No response from WA3RNC
Hi Andrew, I'm glad you had a good activation yesterday. Just go out and have fun, the hunters will find you. I looked in my log and see that I have not worked you yet, but will keep my eyes open for you and if I can I'll hook up the TR35 and have a TR35 to TR35 QSO. It's awful hot down here now so ...

Re: TR-35 issues / No response from WA3RNC
I just brought out my TR35 to re-check the indicated vs actual transmitted freqs. It is not off as far as I first thought in my first post. I used my frequency counter which is by no means a lab grade counter but is pretty accurate. I used my IC7300 with the passband set down to 50HZ to monitor the ...

Re: TR-35 issues / No response from WA3RNC
Hi Andrew, I have a TR35 that has the same problem. I built it over a year ago so it is probably a low serial number. I have not tried to contact WA3RNC so I can't help you there. I have just been compensating for the difference, but it would be nice to have the indicated freq then same as the actua...

Re: Drone antenna
Good idea, but drones are not allowed in National Parks, Forests and Wildlife Refuges. Also I believe many state parks also restrict them.

Re: TR-35 group/forum
Hi Brian, Thanks for the reply. Wow, right there on the first page of the manual. Thank goodness for this forum for dummies like me who don't read the manuals. This was a fun build and even more fun to use in POTA activations interfaced with my Qrp Works Sidekar Extreme for logging contacts. I have ...

Re: TR-35 group/forum
When I power up my TR35 on 20 meters it always starts on 14.262 in the phone portion of the band. The other three bands always start at the bottom of the CW portion of the band. It's not a big deal, but I was wondering if that is the nature of the beast or if there is a fix, maybe a firmware upgrade...

Re: QRP Transceiver Comparison
I have seven QRP radios including a KX3,Tr35,40 meter QCX, 20 meter QCX mini, CR Kits HT-1,Four States QRP 40 meter Hilltopper and a Four States QRP 20meter Hilltopper. They were all, except the KX3,built from kits and were fun to build and operate and I have used most of them on POTA activations Of...

Re: Testing new gear in the field.
Hi Ray, Lucky you! I'd love to find a package like that with all that great gear. I can't really comment on the Alex Loop as I have no experience with loops, but that bandwidth on 40 meters is really narrow. I generally use EFHW's or a Wolf River coil vertical on my activations. The bands haven't be...
