Re: Portable Spearker
I use a cable with stereo connectors on each end. To be specific, I ordered this cable when I ordered the speaker. A mono cable would probably work just as well, but I decided on a stereo one because it works just fine based on the pinout for the TR-35 and is more usable for other uses and can even ...

Re: Portable Spearker
I've got this Anker Soundcore Mini that I have used with my KX-1, MTR4b, and TR-35 and I really like it. Not sure if this is quite what you are looking for, but I ordered it based on reviews from K4SWL and it seems to work really well. I'm actually considering ordering a second one.

Re: Selling FT891 to fund a ???
I don't know firm or tight your budget is, but I would consider perhaps keeping the FT-891 to still use mobile or picnic table portable and give yourself the option of having more power and other modes available but then getting something smaller to carry into the woods. This way you won't permanent...

Re: Soft case for FT-818 w/ PortableZero rails
I've got one made by Mighty Pouch that I purchased when I bought my FT-817nd that I keep that radio in and I really like it. I do NOT have the PortableZero rails so cannot comment on how well it would work with them in place, but it is a neoprene type material and feels like it has a small amount of...

Re: Paddle for KX2
I have a KXPD2 that I got when I ordered my KX2 but have never even attached it to the radio so cannot speak to how good it is or give you a review. I can certainly see how in some situations it might be nice to have it attached like that, but personally I prefer to have a separate key or paddle. A ...

Re: Lion or LiPo4 for 12v power
I don't have any direct experience with using Lithium Ion for radio stuff, but do have a LiFePO4 that use on a regular basis and really like. For me, a few of the big factors were: - More appropriate voltage for radio use - Safety during charging - Discharge curves - Lifespan I know a lot of people ...

Re: Battery for QRO operations
Nice point and reminder Brian! I hadn't considered that when typing up my previous comment and generally don't give it much thought because of the equipment I have so it's great that you mentioned it. Just as a matter of reference, the battery that I have that I was referring to in my previous post ...

Re: Battery for QRO operations
Congrats on the new radio, that's pretty nice of your wife to get it for you! I have no experience with the battery you linked to, but it looks like a 30Ah LiFePO4 battery, which would likely run that FT-891 for quite some time! You could try it, but I would NOT recommend using a standard car batter...

Re: 9v or 12v for sw-3b
From the SW-3B Manual ( http://venus-itech.com/download/SW-3B%20Manual.pdf ) Operating voltage: 8-15VDC I think you should be fine with a 12V battery. I'm planning to get one of these at some point and I'll probably run it from my Bioenno batteries. The vague recollection you may be having COULD be ...

Re: Reverse Beacon Client App
What is he showing there is on the pota.app website. You can just go to it in your browser and it will look about like that. That site is also used for spotting yourself or others on SSB not just CW but it ties into the RBN to update spots for current activations.
