Re: Portable 10M Yagi ?
Andrew - Couple of things: Have never worked a contest QRP....so wanted to maximize the gain. For POTA 20M CW with 50 watts, I use a Chameleon 17ft whip on a "magic carpet" AL screen wire ground (no coil)...and have great results. Sometimes put the same whip on a MagMount on the 4Runner, a...

Portable 10M Yagi ?
Hi all, The ARRL 10 Meter contest is in a few weeks. I am thinking about entering as QRP Portable/POTA. Usually I run a vertical ant, but wonder how easy/hard it would be to build a portable 10M Yagi for the CW bands - to use with my KX2? Would it be worth it...this is for a POTA and not SOTA. Does ...

Re: Travel to Europe with KX3 questions
Slowy working on a "Field Trip to Greece" report for Thomas. Half our group got COVID, including my YL, so things have been moving pretty slow. I got some weird Asia Minor virus that's persistent. Anyway, trip was totally worth it.

Re: Travel to Europe with KX3 questions
-Just got back from a great trip to Greece with the KX1 and AX1 - short answer: no problems with international travel. Most scrutiny was here at the Raleigh Durham airport where TSA pulled my backpack with radio equipment apart and examined everything. TSA even swabbed the KX2 kit for explosives ! T...

Re: Travel to Europe with KX3 questions
Here is the link to the official TSA website for policies on batteries, an instructive read: https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all?combine=batteries&page=2 Had the KX2 in the Caribbean, flying thru Miami and no problems. Most interesting was taking the KX1, with extra w...

Re: Wire type & dealer ?
Thanks to all for the great information.
I'll follow up. Sounds like it's good to order a large spool,
and experiment with it.
Best,
Bob K4RLC

Wire type & dealer ?
Vy SRI if this has been discussed before - didn't come up in search. Have used a portable packable vertical for SOTA ops (MP-1), as like to hang out on exposed rock faces. Just built a QrpGuys transfomer/balun for a no-tune EFHW. Want to use lightest wire possible, but not something that will snap o...
