Bit of a late response, but I recently did a SOTA activation of W7W/KG-121 with an AX1 and 5W on SSB. I had good reports from California to North Dakota to Oklahoma to Utah. Thanks, Skip! That definitely does help. Hadn’t much considered keeping the mast vertical, on this particular summit there wasn’t much other than small, loose gravel, so that would’ve been difficult. I agree that there is probably always a way to make it work though with no tension on the antenna. H...
