Re: k6ark efhw capacitor
Agree, not essential. 100ohm. Will not have much noticeable effect on that antenna.

Re: don't underestimate the humble dipole
Voacap is fantastic. I shared the tool with my club a couple months back, was well received. Nice write up on Dipole as well. Thanks for sharing!

Re: The perfect POTA/SOTA rig
To pair it down first...with existing rigs and to split my answers between POTA and SOTA...because for me that changes things...and I will not mention antenna pair... POTA rig for me is TX500 with a close and closing margin of the KX2 in second place. SOTA rig for me currently is the MTR-3B (LCD or ...

Re: The perfect POTA/SOTA rig
I would think the perfect POTA/SOTA rig would be a cross between a 705 and KX2. The 705 user interface and screen with the form factor of the KX2. FX-4CR POTA with EFHW
I had an opportunity to borrow a radio I don't own and take it for a POTA activation. The radio needed the Main board replaced and firmware updated. I took the opportunity to make a magnetic cover as well. I was concerned CW would not be great but I had no issue with a N0SA key paired up. I also ran...

Re: New K6ARK antenna?
The 4:1 has become my "go to" antenna for small portable operations when I have a tuner... Same configuration, 15' radiator and 7.5' CP. What I appreciate about my 4:1 winding is the efficiency is significantly higher than any other winding I have tested...over 99% actually with Back to Ba...
