Re: Bring lots of different types of antennas, just in case
Ok, now I feel like a dummy. I have a TransWorld TW2010 (pretty much a commercial version of your double T bar) but I was concerned about taking up too much space in the car. Next time...

Re: Bring lots of different types of antennas, just in case
Bringing the "toy" vertical was a mistake, but I think it's good to have a wire antenna as primary, and the magloop (or other non-wire antenna) as a backup. I was in Arizona last year, and while I was allowed to put an antenna in a tree, there weren't any good candidates so I ended up usin...

Bring lots of different types of antennas, just in case
I activated Greenbelt Park (US-0668) on Saturday. By half an hour of operating, I was on my third antenna. I started (or tried to start) with a magloop, but a gust of wind knocked it over and broke the base. I then tried using a very small loaded whip, but after 10 minutes of calling CQ POTA without...

Re: TR-35 group/forum
Thanks. I’m planning to set it relatively low. My trusdx rigs’ sidetone is tied to the overall volume, so when I turn up the volume to dig out a weak signal the Sidetone is painful!

Re: TR-35 group/forum
I know that this thread has been dormant for a while, but after Thomas announced that WA3RNC was shutting down his operation I hurried over and bought a TR35 kit. I'm looking forward to building it and taking it out for POTA activations this spring. Is there a TR35 or Penntek mailing list? I couldn'...

Re: Is it too hard to start out on HF with QRP?
Power isn't as important as a good antenna and a good rig. When I was first licensed, I floundered for a couple of months with a Johnson Viking Ranger II transmitter and a gigantic blue receiver (I can't remember what make). My antenna was a dipole strung between my house and the house behind us at ...

Re: What is the difference between QRP Guys and QRP Builder?
What is the part that you need? I have built one of these on my own using parts from the local hardware store. The only tricky part (for me) was drilling the hole in the end caps - you really need a drill press do get the holes straight and centered.

Re: Wet weather antennas
I have an EFRW in my back yard that I run a length of coax out to through the back door. I covered the unun box with a ziplock baggie (poked a small hole in one corner for the wire, and a larger hole in the other corner for the tie off - the radial and the coax come out the open bottom of the baggie...

What is the difference between QRP Guys and QRP Builder?
I saw a link to qrpbuilder.com on a mailing list. The website and the products look very similar to qrpguys.com

Re: KM4CFT Antenna kit 30/17 meters
The real question is, "what is the rest of your system?" What kind of radio are you using, and do you have/plan to have an antenna tuner? Like Brian said, a 17m and 30m are going to play well together on an EFHW unless it's built for 80m (multiples of 3.5 MHz). If you want just a 40/30/17 ...
