Re: questions about bioenno batteries

I'm new to QRP and will be getting a bioenno battery to use with my Venus SW-3B. I have questions for which I am unable to find clear answers. Any help would be appreciated. I am asking here about only the bioenno series 12v batteries. 1. Can the charger you buy with one bioenno battery be used wit...

Re: Question for FT-891 users

I'm not an FT-891 user, but consider an auto tuner with latching relays. They draw current while tuning, but next to nothing otherwise. I have been using an LDG Z-100Plus for almost a year, and am still on the first set of 6 AA batteries. Specs say 100 mW while tuning, then almost no current draw. G...

Re: Which radio to take?

Well done Richard! I frequently ask myself which radio to take on any particular outing. It is always a difficult decision, even with only 3 radios to choose from: KX2, TX-500, and TR-35. Each one has its benefits, and no one of them fully replaces the others. Most importantly, each one is great fun...

Re: Which radio to take?

Hi all, Just catching up ahead of my road trip around the coast of Scotland and I face a dilemma, which radio(s) do I take? I’ll be away for 10 days and off grid with only very limited vehicle power for operation and charging whilst mobile. Have dismissed my KX2 as I’ll likely deplete the battery w...

Contingency Plan

I created a big problem for myself last weekend, and had to solve it in the field. As part of our club event during summer 2022 Support Your Parks weekend, a teammate and I planned to combine a hike on the K-4239 North Country Trail with a pair of 2-fer activations. I decided that my KX2 was the opt...

Back Porch QRP Antenna

During good weather, I like to work QRP from the back porch. In the past I have just pulled one of my field antennas out and worked things like a normal field activation. But the need to deploy, retrieve and re-pack the antenna from one of my field kits has caused me to skip the fun once too often. ...

Re: POTA Uploader

I tried to use my cell phone but it said the screen was too small to use. It was a Xs Max so one of the largest screen for iPhone. Also, is there a way to bring it back down should a mistake be found and reload? Max - WG4Z Hi Max, There is not a self-delete function. To get a file removed, it is ne...

Re: Arborist Throw Lines

Check out Thomas - K4SWL's posts on QRPer.com. They have great information on selection and use of throw lines. https://qrper.com/2022/07/the-arborist-throw-line-is-an-invaluable-tool-for-your-field-radio-kit/ https://qrper.com/2022/08/arborist-throw-lines-ideal-lengths-and-weights-for-field-radio/ ...

Re: Arborist Throw Lines

I'm ready to try my throw line. (I've successfully used a pneumatic launcher for years.) I picked up a "Kutir" kit that is very similar to Thomas' Compact Weaver Throw Bag. Do I take the line out of the bag to deploy, or will it feed OK out of the compact bag? 72, Don, K9DRP Don, Experime...
