This looks interesting. It looks like they still sell it on their website. Weird that I don’t see it in any other stores.

Re: Nano VNA
Thanks. I’ve never used that kind of user group. Seems like a format that should died in 1997. I’ll be on the YouTubes!
It’s the cheapest stand alone SWR meter I’ve found. If I get the Venus SW-3B, I don’t think it has anything.

Nano VNA
Has anyone used a Nano VNA? Can it function as an antenna analyzer like a Rig Expert or MFJ analyzer?

Re: New ham interested in CW
Another one I have some interest in is the Xiegu G6100 after chatting with N9SAB. I see some reports of broadcast interference problems, but also some fixes for it. $600 on Radioddity and it has a tuner. The Penntek probably couldn't be more different in a QRP radio, so not sure I am narrowing anyth...

Re: New ham interested in CW
On radios options to get started with. Certainly a KX2 or KX3 is a great option, but as you said they are hard to come by used and expensive either way. If it were me and I was looking thinking CW and QRP as a goal, I would be very happy with my Penntek TR-35 and the TR-45L is a another option to c...

Re: New ham interested in CW
well, start by building this https://pa0fri.home.xs4all.nl/ATU/FRImatch/FRImatcheng.htm two polyvaricons, a toroid, some wire and an enclosure won't break the bank; add an EFRW (ska "random") by picking a suitable lenght of wire here https://udel.edu/~mm/ham/randomWire/ add a 9:1 and a de...

Re: New ham interested in CW
[snip, snip] If I get a tuner, which one would you suggest? FWIW, I wouldn't mess with a tuner now. With any of the antennas mentioned above, you'll have 40-30-20-15-10 meters in the palm of your hand. 73 Skip K4EAK For sure. I am worried about finding ways to string up 60 feet of wire and being mot...

Re: New ham interested in CW
I do quite like the idea of using ham sticks. I don't understand yet how to implement them though.

Re: New ham interested in CW
Getting back to learning morse, I would actively consider signing up for the CW Academy with CWOps. I recommend this because having returned enthusiastically to morse after a gap of 27 years of use, I found the structured and fixed course format of CWA worked better for me than LICW (I'm a member o...

Re: New ham interested in CW
The EFHW Kit from KM4ACK is a great option for that reason, all the parts you need are included and it takes maybe an hour to assemble. Make it the day it arrives. [snip, snip] Not a good idea to use a EFHW without a tuner? I've never used a tuner with an EFHW, which is why I used and EFHW with the ...
