Minimalist QRP transmitter

Post by N8TGQ »

I've decided to go back to basics and build my dream minimalist transmitter. The fancy new computer controlled rigs are great, but I have no way of servicing them if something goes wrong, and want to spend some money with our small American companies like Far Circuits, Dans Small Parts, 3rd Planet Solar, etc.
I have built lots of pixies and OXO transmitters, but want to get a little more sophisticated. I have 3 or 4 decent portable receivers that do a good job on CW. I want to avoid all ICs and just have a basic 5 watt, VXO transmitter that I can change bands by swapping crystals and filters.
Does anyone have ideas, or favorites you built in the past?

Thanks! de Rick N8TGW

A dear friend of mine, Kostas (SV3ORA) designed a transmitter which may fit, have a look at it here

it's low components count, no ICs and should cover your requirements, or at least I hope so :D further infos may also be found here
