Pedestrian Mobile
My good ham friend KR8P recently got the Elecraft AH1 and wanted to take it pedestrian mobile and asked if I would listen for him on 20 meters. I had a 559 copy on him from MI to me in EPA. I started thinking, hey, I might be able to use my FX-4CR and do the same thing. So I brainstormed and came up...

Re: FX-4CR POTA with EFHW
The FX-4CR is an excellent radio. I currently have the V3 of the radio.

Very awesome! I think the station you worked would be my old buddy WA3IOU - Geno who lives out near Pittsburgh.

My new FX-4CR QRP Radio
A few months ago I put in my order for the FX-4CR QRP radio, and I received it about 2 weeks ago now. It exceeds my expectations of it as soon as I set it up in the shack. I've taken it out on 3 POTA activations, however too cold to really hike with it yet. I purchased a case for it that fits nicely...

Re: Linked End Fed Halfwave Antenna
Skip - I did the EFHW link at 30 meters today. Maybe it's the balun (I'm using the spark plug) and I started at 50 ft 0 in. I ended up cutting 5 ft. 10 in. off of it! The total length is about 62 feet, so quite a difference from your measurements. Thanks for the idea, now I have 20-30-40 at near 1:1...

Re: Linked End Fed Halfwave Antenna
I also have a linked EFHW, although I'm basically a slacker and went for the minimalist version, mostly because my Venus SW-3B only has three bands (20-30-40m). So, I have a 40m (66') EFHW, with one link at 49' 3" for 30m. That gives me all I need for now, and even with that I rarely pull the ...

Linked End Fed Halfwave Antenna
The other day I watched a video of a YouTuber making a linked EFHW. I decided to make one myself using his method in the video. I am not good when it comes to soldering, so I thought this would be a good time to practice. So I used my spark plug and created a linked EFHW for 20, 30 and 40 meters. Th...

New Wolf River Coils "Sporty Forty" coil
A couple of weeks ago at the Huntsville Hamfest a YouTuber named Hikin' n' Hammin' interviewed WRC regarding a new product the Sporty Forty coil. Although I sold my TIA WRC over a year ago, I still like their product and had recently rediscovered my MFJ 17 foot whip that I started using on a mirror ...

Re: POTA on 30M?
POTA is not a contest. SKCC is also not a contest (however they have designated contests with submitted scores). There are awards you can achieve with both groups. SKCC and POTA are welcome on the WARC bands, and also 60 meters.
