Good morning,
Got a question regarding my 49:1 and wire length.
Is there a wire length that is shorter than the 67' roughly that I'm currently using for multi band ? Im looking to get a short no tune 40m wire made up. The current 67ish feet im currently using is great but just looking to go short to have ease of setup for the low CW bands.

Re: 49:1 antenna question
An alternative to your 67ft wire is a 34ft wire (length may vary slightly) with a loading coil at the end and a very short tail wire extension. It is sometimes called a "Shorty Forty". There are details online or on YouTube. John VA3KOT

John, thank you very much! 34' is way more discreet than the 67ish”. I will definitely take a look into the shorty 40

Re: 49:1 antenna question
the 49:1 transformer is usually needed to feed an end fed half wave antenna and that "halfwave" means that the antenna length is directly related to the wavelength and the latter is related to the frequency; then there are ways to shorten an antenna (loading) but doing so will reduce the efficiency so there's s price to payDW2ND wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 2:42 pm Good morning,

Re: 49:1 antenna question
if space is constrained and you are ok with using an ATU, you may consider this linear loaded doublet

which allows to cover all bands from 80m up
